CHICAGO (AP) — The Dallas Cowboys player charged with intoxication manslaughter following a car accident that killed his teammate was arrested for driving under the influence in Illinois in 2009.

Josh Brent and Jerry Brown were teammates for three seasons at the University of Illinois.

Brent was arrested Saturday morning. Police say he was speeding when he hit a curb and flipped the vehicle he was driving, killing Brown.

Champaign County Court records show Brent was arrested in February 2009 near the University of Illinois for driving under the influence, speeding and driving without a valid license. Brent later pleaded guilty to DUI.

He was sentenced to 60 days in jail, two years of probation, 200 hours of community service and a fine of about $2,000.
