Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Ronald Darby suffered what appeared to be a serious ankle injury early in the second quarter of the season opener against the Washington Redskins.
Darby's right ankle bent the wrong way as he was running in coverage with Washington tight end Jordan Reed. Darby went down to the ground grabbing at his ankle and was attended to by medical personnel before he was carted off.
Darby was ruled out of the game minutes after the injury. Patrick Robinson took over for Darby.
The Eagles acquired Darby for secondary help from the Buffalo Bills in August. Philadelphia sent wide receiver Jordan Matthews and a 2018 third-round pick to Buffalo for Darby.
