NFL players are showing their colors this Sunday, taking advantage of the once-a-season chance to support causes at games by wearing specially designed cleats.
Here's a look at a few examples from the Kansas City Chiefs before they face the New York Jets:

Normally, the league hands out fines for shoes with statements of any sort.
But this week, players are allowed to paint messages, and about 1,000 were expected to don customized cleats publicizing charities.
That would be about double the number who participated a year ago, when the NFL began the effort.
