The Carolina Panthers are up for sale after the season _ and apparently there are no shortage of potential suitors to buy the team that is valued at $2.3 billion by Forbes Magazine.

Rapper, songwriter and actor Diddy took to Twitter on Sunday night, tweeting "I would like to buy the @panthers. Spread the word. Retweet!"

With that, Golden State Warriors guard and two-time NBA Most Valuable Player Stephen Curry, a Charlotte native, retweeted and said "I want in!'

Diddy later went to to tweet that it is time for more diverstiy among sports owners.

Facing a growing investigation that accuses him of sexual misconduct and using racist language at work, Carolina Panthers owner Jerry Richardson announced Sunday that he will sell the NFL team after the season. The team announced on Twitter that Richardson is selling the team, linking to a five-paragraph letter by the franchise's only owner.

"I believe it is time to turn the franchise over to new ownership," Richardson wrote, saying he wouldn't begin discussions until after the season. The Panthers, who lost in the Super Bowl two seasons ago, are in playoff position again after a 31-24 win over the Green Bay Packers.
