SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS (4-12)
UNRESTRICTED FREE AGENTS: DB Jimmie Ward, WR Pierre Garcon, LB Mark Nzeocha, RB Alfred Morris, P Bradley Pinion, S Antone Exum, LS Kyle Nelson.
RESTRICTED FREE AGENTS: RB Raheem Mostert.
NEEDS: Niners took step back in second year under coach Kyle Shanahan and GM John Lynch after season-ending knee injuries to QB Jimmy Garoppolo and RB Jerick McKinnon hindered offense. But biggest holes are on defense, where lack of impact players led to NFL record for futility with just seven takeaways, including record-low two INTs. Adding edge rushers will help, as well as getting help for Richard Sherman in secondary. Team made move at LB already, agreeing to sign Kwon Alexander. Niners needed boost there after releasing 2017 first-rounder Reuben Foster following off-field problems. Adding playmaker on outside to team with star tight end George Kittle will help Garoppolo, as well as strengthening interior line.
AVAILABLE SALARY CAP SPACE (approximately): $45.7 million.
