Kasey Redfern’s NFL debut has been an unpleasant one.
The Detroit punter hurt his knee in the first quarter when he dropped a snap in the end zone, picked up the ball and tried to run it out. He was hit at the 13, giving Arizona possession there.
The Lions held on defense, but the Cardinals kicked a field goal to take a 10-0 lead. Arizona leads 10-6 late in the second.
With Redfern hurt, kicker Matt Prater took over the punting duties for Detroit.
Other early lowlights for the Lions:
_ Matthew Stafford’s first pass of the season was intercepted and run back for a touchdown.

_ Kick returner Dwayne Washington let a ball bounce deep into the end zone, then went to pick it up and tried to run it out. He was tackled at the 7.
_ Redfern was still Detroit’s leading rusher after one quarter.
_ When the Lions finally scored a touchdown, Jake Rudock _ who had replaced Redfern as the holder _ was chased out of bounds on the extra point. It wasn't clear if it was a planned fake or not.
Arizona hasn’t done much offensively either, and starting left tackle D.J. Humphries left with a knee injury.
