GIANTS PLAYER TO WATCH: QB Daniel Jones passed for a career-high 402 yards against the Saints, the most for New York since Eli Manning had 434 late in 2017. Jones is one of three QBs with 150 yards rushing and has scored on a 2-point conversion run in each of the past two games.
COWBOYS PLAYER TO WATCH: QB Dak Prescott faces the Giants at home almost a year to the day since the severe ankle injury that ended his 2020 season against New York on the same field. Prescott’s 17 TD passes in nine games against the Giants are his most against any opponent.
KEY MATCHUP: The New York passing game against CB Trevon Diggs as the Dallas defense. Diggs leads the NFL with five interceptions as just the fourth player since 1990 with at least one pick in each of the first four games. But the Cowboys are 31st in pass defense while allowing 19 pass plays of at least 20 yards, third most in the NFL. All four of Jones' TD passes are from at least 20 yards, including a 52-yarder to John Ross in his New York debut last week.
KEY INJURIES: S Jabrill Peppers, WRs Sterling Shepard and Darius Slayton are dealing with hamstring issues and didn't practice with the Giants on Wednesday. LT Andrew Thomas (foot) and DL Leonard Williams (knee) also were out. ... Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott didn't practice Wednesday after coming out of the Carolina game with a sore knee, but said he expected to play. ... DT Carlos Watkins returned to practice after missing two games with a knee injury. ... WR Michael Gallup (calf strain) is eligible to come off injured reserve, but coach Mike McCarthy said he doesn't expect Gallup back before the Oct. 24 bye.
SERIES NOTES: New York's victory in Week 17 last season stopped a seven-game losing streak in the series and ended Dallas' unlikely playoff hopes while keeping the Giants alive for a few more hours before Washington clinched the NFC East with a victory. The Giants haven't won at the home of the Cowboys since 2016.

Elliott had his 50th career rushing touchdown against the Panthers, and the 143-yard day was his best since 2018, when he won the second of his two rushing titles. Elliott has an NFC-best 342 yards rushing. ... WR CeeDee Lamb needs six catches in his 21st game to beat Herschel Walker for the fastest Dallas player to 100 receptions. Walker needed 22 games. ... With four catches, Dalton Schultz can become the first Dallas tight end with 100 career catches since club career receptions leader Jason Witten reached that milestone in 2004. ... FANTASY TIP: Prescott has won his past seven starts against the Giants since two of Dallas' three losses came against New York when he was the 2016 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year. In the seven games, Prescott is completing 66% of his passes for an average of 282 yards per game with 16 touchdowns and two interceptions. The passer rating is 113.
