Index Methodology

The Pro Football Player Index is the result of computer programs and mathematical formulas developed by Automated Insights as a comprehensive assessment of the best weekly performances of quarterbacks, running backs, wide receivers and tight ends throughout the NFL. The rankings compare a player's performance to the historical average performance at his position. A player's single game ranking takes into account both the quantity and quality of a player's involvement using advanced metrics adjusted to take into consideration game situations, tempo, and the strength of the opponent's defense. The adjusted scores are then compared to the average for that position based on a historical sample, and converted to a final score, on a 60-100 point grading scale.

History of the Index

This marks the first year Automated Insights, a leading provider of personalized content, compiles the Pro Football Player Index.
